Positive deviance provides a great framework for coaching and facilitating communities to find their own, hidden solutions to difficult and long-standing problems.
We work with local teams
to find solutions to problems such as:
- Violence against women and girls – in Wales, Manchester and East Anglia through the Home Office
- Teenage pregnancy – in Hampshire
- Healthy eating and obesity in young people – in London
We also work with Mutual Gain, a specialist community engagement practice, to ensure exciting and engaging acitivities. Feedback from participants includes the following:
From teenage parents:
“it’s helped me feel much less isolated, and I’ve got a new support network”
“I’ve gained a lot in confidence, and come out of my shell”
“being able to give our message to other young people means we have a chance to make a difference”
From participants in the Home Office programme:
“Today has been a very thought-provoking experience. I feel I have learnt not only about others, but most importantly I have learnt things about myself that I was not aware of. It has become very clear that what is important is that somewhere within our shared knowledge are the all-important answers.“
